Your tablescapes are so lovely! It’s been so oppressively hot here we have not been able to sit outside and dine al fresco. And there is nothing like garden to table dishes although our squash and zucchini suffered from the heat and drought. Looking forward to October! Thanks for sharing the fruits of your labor! Grazie!
Those summer tables! Thank you for returning me to Tuscany. Was lucky enough to attend a writing retreat there last fall. My heart is there still. On my fourth reading of Under the Tuscan Sun. A great summer read. It transports me❤️
you’re lucky that it’s cool enough to sit outside —we’ve been in a sort lockdown from the brutal heat in our neck of the woods— breakfast al fresco is possible -but in the evenings it’s still too hot to dine outside and my poor hydrangeas have taken a beating! As for fresh sweet corn — for the last couple of years I have found it at Esselunga , 2 ears per package with half the husk. Not quite as good as what I found in the farmers market in Tennessee but still pretty good. I cook it in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel. there’s an esselunga in Arezzo I believe — you might find it there.
Thank you for sharing your pics and inspiring us to eat el fresco. Summer in Minnesota is fleeting but we are entering our corn season. I finally perfected roasting it on the grill. Yummy 🌽. Made a corn and tomatoe salad for the family this weekend. We ate outside minus the Tuscan hills but surrounded by love and the prettiest brand new granddaughter. La vita e Bella.!
It’s always magical having dinners in Tuscany where you can hear the cidas humming away. Then all the summer produce used to make the most beautiful dishes.
Thr tomatoes garnished with fresh bssil & our olive & its heaven. We have eaten at those tables & the goid & atmosphere always magical!
Lovely table settings and food pictures. I imagine it is quite hot in Italy. We had a 2 week heatwave in Ireland, circa 30 Celsius at its fiercest, but we were still able to eat al fresco in the evenings. It has cooled down now.
Hear, hear! I have been feeling deflated by the heat, but your descriptions evoke evenings with chilled rose or sparkling wine, fresh peaches, the bounty of the season, and good friends. I feel myself perking up just thinking about it.
